Metal Korean War Era Military Surplus.
Easily adjustable shelving (Need a flat-head screwdriver)

These are the same bookcases we painted and cut down to size for the Port City Java Shelves. Easy to paint with a can of metal paint.
For those of you who remember our store, these are the shelves that formed the “W” shape in the back for fiction letters “D-Mc”.
Four cases currently available.

Please drop by and visit our table! We will have The Bard and a few of his friends for sale from 6-8 PM and at intermission. We will miss shows the third week of June due to a pilgrimage, but will see you again the fourth week. Big thanks to Shakespeare on the Green for having us and for continuing this wonderful Wilmington tradition. We look forward to it every summer!

While we are without a building…..We are currently stocking bookcases at 10 of the Port City Javas in the Wilmington area. All books are $1.00 each. Nice assortment of fiction, non-fiction, the classics and romances in most locations. We will also be out at Shakespeare on the Green this year selling Shakespeare and his contemporaries (Marlowe, Jonson, those cats….) Please stop by and say hi!

On Saturday Feb 27th we moved the bookstore in to storage. We (Jock, Austin, Ted and myself) expected to get about a third of the inventory out and into storage by dark.

Throughout the day we averaged 100 people boxing, packing, moving, unloading, dismantling bookshelves and scavenging the city for boxes. Folks Café, Slice of Life and Front St Brewery kept the volunteer crew fueled for an incredible day of work. By 4:15 the store was empty (and looking surprisingly smaller). All that was left were the security mirrors, the signed books, the front desk and some trash.

What happened to the building?
Right now, January 19, the building is officially condemned. It is not condemned for demolition.
The front façade is leaning from the building. Neither Gwenyfar nor Lloyd are engineers. We are both Liberal Arts Majors. However, you can see that the façade is leaning out. For the safety of pedestrians and our patrons the building and the sidewalk have been shut down.
Is this because of the construction?
Again neither of us are engineers. Therefore, we are not qualified to answer that question.

Old Books on Front St. is temporarily closed due to structural safety concerns. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We have just been given notice to vacate the building. At this point we do not know how long the repairs process will take. We plan to reopen in the same location as quickly as possible.
